Do You Use Cashback Websites When Ordering Online?

Filed under: Saving Money — Administrator @ 9:45 am

Over the past few years the number of people that shop online has dramatically amplified and according to shopping statistics for 2009 there has been a 13% increase on 2008 which is said to continually rise over the next few years.
33% of people that do shop online use a search engine to locate quickly what they are looking for, followed by 25% who find websites simply by word of mouth, and these days you can buy almost anything you need online, but are people realising that they can save money by using cashback websites?

What is a cashback site?
For those unaware of what cashback websites are I will briefly sum them up in a paragraph. Cashback websites are set-up to help visitors save money, so instead of visiting the retailer directly you will visit them through a cashback website by clicking a link. First you will need to create an account with the cashback website in order to track your cashback and of course to pay you the money.

How do they work?
So if you wanted to get car insurance from the likes of Hastings Direct you would login to your cashback account, click the retailer link and then you will be pointed to Hastings Direct (at the cashback site you will see details on the trackability period, payment period, processing period, and of course the amount of cashback you will get). Once you have successfully completed a purchase the transaction will be tracked by the cashback site and then you will receive the money in your account (dependant on tracking times).

The cashback site summary
All in all cashback sites do help out, especially if you use the Internet for online shopping on a regular basis. You can set a payout threshold on your cashback account and keep the money in there to avoid temptation of spending it. Over the course of a year’s spending and determined by the cashback deals you have taken action on and the amount you have used the cashback service, you can earn anything from £100 – £1,000 which is a nice payout at the end of the year.

There are no catches to this at all; it’s just a simple way to help save money when you order items online.
